President Motor Inn, Melbourne
Robin Boyd, 1967

Boyd’s commission to design the President Motor Inn on Queens Rd, South Melbourne came in July 1965, the same month as Boyd’s second visit to Japan. The hotel, completed in 1967 and since altered, featured an expressed post-and-beam concrete superstructure that echoed contemporary trends in Japanese modernist architecture.
