Expo 70, Osaka
The Japan World Exposition in Osaka in 1970, known as Expo 70, was held between 15 March and 13 September and attracted over 64 million visitors. Kenzo Tange and Uzo Nishyama were the Chief Architects responsible for the master plan for Expo 70. Tange appointed 12 Japanese architects, including Arata Isozaki and Kiyonori Kikutake, Kisho Kurokawa and Fumihiko Maki (all featured in Boyd’s New Directions in Japanese Architecture) to help with parts of the design.
